Tanzania named Africa’s leading destination

DAR-ES-SALAAM, (CAJ News) – TANZANIA has secured numerous honours at the 33rd World Travel Awards Africa Gala Ceremony to strengthen its position as one of the continent’s leading travel and tourism destinations.

At the ceremony held in Zanzibar, Tanzania was named Africa’s Leading Destination 2026. The Tanzania Tourist Board (TTB) won Africa’s Leading Tourist Board for the fifth consecutive year.

Dr Thereza Mugobi, TTB Acting Director General, received the award.

She explained that the recognition would motivate TTB to intensify the international promotion of Tanzania’s tourism attractions and support the continued development of the sector.

“We will continue to use this award as a catalyst to increase our efforts in promoting our tourism attractions and further developing the tourism sector in Tanzania,” she added.

Zanzibar was named Africa’s Leading Beach Destination, reinforcing its reputation as one of the best beach and island destinations in Africa.

There were accolades for Kilimanjaro National Park, Mpanga Kipengere Game Reserve, Selous Game Reserve, Serengeti National Park and Tarangire National Park in different categories.

Other coastal and island tourism winners included Diamonds Bijoux, LUX Marijani, Mafia Island, Mora Zanzibar, Thanda Island and Villa Lali.

Safari accommodation and tourism experience providers won, including Chem Chem Lodge, Greystoke Mahale, Kaskaz Mara Camp, Miracle Experience Balloon Safaris, Singita Serengeti House, Siringit Serengeti Camp and Zara Tanzania Adventures.
