Paratus Rwanda boosts regional connectivity

KIGALI, (CAJ News) — PARATUS Rwanda is using the African Peering and Interconnection Forum (AfPIF) 2026 to showcase its expanding connectivity infrastructure as East Africa accelerates efforts to strengthen digital links across the continent.

The company hosted the official opening reception for AfPIF, which runs from 18-20 August at the Kigali Marriott Hotel and coincides with the first anniversary of Paratus Rwanda’s operations.

The forum brings together internet service providers, network operators, carriers, internet exchanges, data centre operators, technology companies and policymakers from Africa and beyond.

Since entering Rwanda last year, Paratus has expanded beyond Starlink business services into IP transit, wholesale internet and regional fibre connectivity.

Through its Kigali point of presence, Paratus Rwanda connects businesses and operators to the wider Paratus Group network spanning 16 African countries. Its East African network is further strengthened through operations in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.

A key component is the G2M fibre route, linking Goma in the Democratic Republic of Congo to Mombasa in Kenya through Kigali, Kampala and Nairobi.

The 2,000-kilometre protected corridor provides high-capacity cross-border connectivity and access to international subsea cable capacity through Mombasa.

Paratus Rwanda also offers Starlink-powered primary, backup and remote connectivity solutions, including business internet and Layer 2 connectivity for organisations operating across multiple locations.

Country Manager Innocent Mutimura said AfPIF provided an opportunity to demonstrate that the company was established and ready to support businesses and operators locally and regionally.

“Rwanda is a growing digital market and an important part of our East African strategy,” Mutimura said.

Representatives from Paratus Group, Rwanda, Kenya and Uganda are attending AfPIF, highlighting the group’s ability to provide connectivity across multiple markets through an integrated network.

The company’s expanding infrastructure could support businesses seeking more resilient connectivity while strengthening regional digital integration and access to international markets.
