Namibia invites Chinese for investment partnerships

WINDHOEK, (CAJ News) – PRESIDENT Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah of Namibia has invited Chinese businesses to partner with Namibia’s drive towards industrialisation, value addition and sustainable economic growth.

She was addressing the Guangzhou–Guangdong Business Forum at the start of her week-long visit to the Asian economic powerhouse on Monday.

Nandi-Ndaitwah invited a Guangdong business delegation to visit Namibia and explore first-hand the country’s investment opportunities across key sectors, including energy, mining, agriculture, logistics, infrastructure, tourism and manufacturing.

The president encouraged investors to engage with the accompanying Cabinet ministers to explore opportunities across Namibia’s priority sectors.

She also highlighted the success of the Husab Mine as an example of the strong economic partnership already enjoyed between Namibia and Guangdong.

Nandi-Ndaitwah invited Chinese investors to partner with Namibia in mining, agriculture and agro-processing, logistics, infrastructure, health, education, skills development and technology transfer.

Highlighting Namibia’s investment climate, she said the country offers political stability, a strong constitutional democracy, an independent judiciary and a secure environment for investment.

She also pointed to modern transport and port infrastructure, including the strategically located Walvis Bay Port, which provides access to regional markets of more than 300 million people across Southern Africa.

Nandi-Ndaitwah said, “The visit aims to deepen the longstanding friendship between Namibia and China while expanding economic cooperation.”
