More international flights to Cape Town this Spring

CAPE TOWN, (CAJ News) – INTERNATIONAL flights to Cape Town are poised to increase in Spring, with some airlines introducing flights and others increasing their frequencies.

This is a major boost to South Africa’s “Mother City”.

Wesgro, the official tourism, trade and investment promotion agency for Cape Town and the Western Cape, provided an update.

From this past Monday (August 31), the Dutch carrier KLM increased its flight frequency between Cape Town and Amsterdam from a daily schedule to ten flights per week.

From 5 September, Swiss airline Edelweiss is to resume its seasonal service connecting Zurich Airport.

Norse Atlantic Airways of Norway is to begin its direct seasonal service between Cape Town and London Gatwick Airport starting from September 10.

Condor, of Germany, returns its non-stop seasonal service between Frankfurt and Cape Town on September 17.

From 23 September, Air France will resume its seasonal service between Paris (CDG) and Cape Town (CPT), with an expanded season.

Airlink, the local airline, is to introduce two new direct services from Cape Town to Mauritius and Cape Town to Zanzibar in October.

The same month, Turkish Airlines will increase its direct Istanbul–Cape Town service from seven to ten flights per week.

Meanwhile, Wesgro reported Cape Town International Airport welcomed 242 077 two-way international passengers in July 2026, representing a 10-percent increase compared with the same month last year.

The continued growth in international traffic reflects the combined impact of expanded airline capacity on key routes and sustained demand from overseas markets.

Domestic passenger volumes reached 615 536 two-way passengers during the month, up 1 percent year-on-year.

This marks the first growth recorded since March, supported by increased travel during the local holiday period and some relief from lower fuel prices.
