LONDON, (CAJ News) – THE Premier League delivered another weekend of drama, with Manchester City and Arsenal emerging as the early pace-setters while promoted Hull City continued their remarkable start and several established sides were left searching for answers.
Manchester City remain top after a narrow 1-0 victory over Coventry City.
Erling Haaland scored the decisive goal—his 300th in top-flight club football—giving Pep Guardiola’s side a perfect nine points from three matches. Reuters+1
Arsenal matched City’s perfect record by fighting back from an early deficit to defeat Chelsea 2-1.
Morgan Rogers put Chelsea ahead inside two minutes, but Kai Havertz equalised before Martin Ødegaard completed Arsenal’s comeback.
The champions now have nine points, while Chelsea remain on six. Reuters
For Arsenal, the victory is an early statement of intent. Recovering from a poor start against a major rival demonstrated character and maintained their unbeaten run against Chelsea.
For Chelsea, however, the defeat highlights defensive weaknesses that new manager Xabi Alonso must address. The Blues have now gone 19 league matches without a clean sheet. The Guardian
The weekend’s surprise package remains Hull City. The promoted side held Aston Villa to a goalless draw, taking their unbeaten tally to three matches and seven points.
Their defensive organisation has been outstanding, with three consecutive clean sheets.
For Villa, the result deepened concerns: they have managed only one point and one goal from three games.

Liverpool also strengthened their position with a 2-0 victory away to Ipswich Town, moving to five points.
Meanwhile, Newcastle United and Bournemouth shared a 2-2 draw. Newcastle remain unbeaten, but Bournemouth’s inability to protect winning positions is becoming a serious concern after they surrendered another lead. Reuters
Crystal Palace produced one of the weekend’s biggest comebacks, recovering from behind twice to beat Fulham 3-2 and claim their first victory. Fulham, meanwhile, will regret failing to convert two leads into points.
Elsewhere, Brentford and Sunderland drew 1-1, Brighton and Leeds shared the same scoreline, while Tottenham and Nottingham Forest finished 0-0.
Tottenham’s failure to score means they remain without a league goal across their opening three matches.

Everton rescued a dramatic 2-2 draw against Manchester United through Ainsley Maitland-Niles’ stoppage-time strike. Everton remain unbeaten on five points, while United have only four.
After three matches, City and Arsenal lead on nine points, followed by Hull on seven and Chelsea on six.
The table remains young, but the message is already clear: the contenders are emerging, the promoted clubs are competing, and dropped points are beginning to matter.
