WASHINGTON, (CAJ News) – A Chinese-Canadian educator dubbed “China’s Nostradamus” has made five unsettling predictions for 2027, including an economic collapse, the return of the US military draft and widespread unrest that could ultimately push America towards civil war.
Jiang Xueqin, a professor and political commentator, gained the nickname after supporters credited him with forecasting Donald Trump’s 2024 election victory and predicting a future US-Israel confrontation with Iran.
Speaking to podcast host Jack Neel in April 2026, Jiang outlined what he believes could happen next.
His first prediction is that the conflict between the US and Iran will escalate into a full-scale war, eventually forcing Washington to launch a ground invasion.
He believes the resulting occupation could last a decade or longer.
Jiang’s second prediction is the return of compulsory military service.
He argues that a prolonged conflict would place such pressure on the US military that a national draft could be reinstated, potentially requiring 18-year-old men to serve.
His third prediction concerns the expansion of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, or ICE.
Jiang believes the agency could become significantly more powerful, while the National Guard could be deployed across major American cities amid growing domestic instability.
The fourth prediction is a severe economic crisis. Jiang points to the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial route for global energy shipments, warning that prolonged disruption could send oil, gas and fertilizer prices soaring and trigger a broader economic shock.
His final prediction is perhaps the most dramatic: widespread civil unrest in the United States.
Jiang does not envision a conventional civil war involving two opposing armies.
Instead, he predicts protests, riots, localized violence and insurgencies driven by economic hardship, political polarization and an expanded domestic security presence.
He says his forecasts are based not on supernatural powers, but on analysing geopolitical incentives, historical patterns and the beliefs of influential political and religious movements.
Jiang also claims Trump’s overriding objective is to retain political power and secure a third presidential term in 2028, rather than simply winning the war in Iran.
By 2030, Jiang predicts an even broader confrontation between “globalists” and “nationalists” across the US and Europe.
Whether any of these forecasts materialize remains uncertain, but his predictions offer a stark—and highly speculative—vision of the years ahead.
