China, Namibia expanding bilateral ties

WINDHOEK, (CAJ News) – CHINA and Namibia are to solidify their ties after President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah arrived in the Asian country for her official state visit.

At the invitation of President Xi Jinping, she touched down in Guangzhou on Sunday ahead of the visit, which ends on the 11th.

Her office stated the visit reflected the strong comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between the two nations and highlighted a shared commitment to mutual respect, solidarity and sustainable development.

Nandi-Ndaitwah will conduct high-level bilateral talks with Xi Jinping and the Premier of the State Council.

She is also scheduled to meet provincial and municipal leaders in Guangdong Province, including Guangzhou and Shenzhen, as well as in Beijing and Sichuan Province.

“This visit is set to deepen economic cooperation and advance joint initiatives that bring practical benefits to citizens in both Namibia and China,” her office stated.

Nandi-Ndaitwah is leading a delegation comprising Cabinet ministers and senior government officials.

Diplomatic relations between China and Namibia were first established the day after Namibia’s independence in 1990, but ties with Namibian independence movements date back to the 1960s.
