Avuxeni! Song, dance and a Tsonga welcome for Heritage Month

Avuxeni, and happy Heritage Month! For four decades, Fashion World’s counters have been one of the places where the country expresses its warm welcome and customs in all South African languages — thousands of times a day, with communities that express themselves in the vibrance and rich diversity that is South Africa. Speaking in Xitsonga, the language of the Tsonga people of Limpopo and Mpumalanga, a Fashion World store employee celebrates the month with her community’s songs, dances and traditional food, and shares a welcome she’s fond of: a visitor arriving at someone’s home sits or kneels until the household greets them.
