JOHANNESBURG, (CAJ News) – BIG 5 Construct South Africa will return to Johannesburg from 9–11 June for its 14th edition, bringing together key players from across the built environment as renewed infrastructure investment and construction activity create fresh opportunities for growth across the sector.
Held at Gallagher Convention Centre and co-located with South Africa Infrastructure Expo and Transport Evolution Africa, the event is expected to attract contractors, developers, architects, consultants, engineers, policymakers and investors seeking to capitalise on expanding project pipelines and infrastructure development initiatives.
The gathering comes at a significant time for South Africa’s construction industry. The market is projected to reach approximately ZAR160.65 billion (US$9.8 billion) in 2026, supported by an annual growth rate of 4.8%.
Government-led programmes, including the National Development Plan 2030 and National Infrastructure Plan 2050, continue to drive investment while encouraging greater private-sector participation in critical projects.
Big 5 Construct South Africa has established itself as a leading platform for connecting buyers, specifiers and technical professionals with suppliers, manufacturers and solution providers from across the construction value chain.
This year’s edition will feature exhibitors from more than 25 countries, highlighting the increasing international interest in South Africa’s construction market.
Country pavilions from China, Italy, Malaysia, Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates will showcase a broad range of products, technologies and services, while exhibitors including Stanley Black & Decker, Grundfos, Maurer Africa, Top Werk and Alumil Misr are expected to draw strong industry interest.
Alongside the exhibition, the Big 5 Talks programme will offer CPD-certified sessions examining digital transformation, project delivery, construction technology, architectural innovation and sustainable building practices.
Industry experts and representatives from organisations including the South African Council for the Project and Construction Management Professions, the Chartered Institute of Building and ILOHM will share insights on emerging trends and challenges shaping the sector.
“Big 5 Construct South Africa provides a commercially focused environment connecting serious buyers with local and international exhibitors,” said Josine Heijmans, Senior Vice-President of dmg events.
The co-location with South Africa Infrastructure Expo and Transport Evolution Africa broadens the event’s reach, creating a platform that spans construction, infrastructure and transport development.
Together, the events will bring government agencies, financiers, planners, contractors and technology providers under one roof, fostering collaboration and investment.
As South Africa advances its infrastructure agenda, the combined exhibitions are expected to play an important role in facilitating business partnerships, knowledge exchange and long-term economic development across the continent.
